LAX Aircraft and Rescue Fire Fighting Station No. 80

Beyaz & Patel provided structural engineering services for a fire training center at Los Angeles International Airport. The facility consists of a concrete-lined, HDPE subline burn area with a structural steel mock-up of an aircraft. Live fuel fires will be extinguished at the facility for practice and certification of airport firefighters. The facility also includes underground fuel (Jet A), gasoline, unburned fuel/water mixture, fuel/water separator, and appropriate pumps and necessary piping; a small fire control center, housing valves which control the fire practice scenario; and a 1,500-foot access road and 300-foot by 100-foot paved burn approach area.
